The Magic of Mistakes
As we all know that the entire education system in India has
Anti Mistake and Anti failure dominance. Somehow as kids and later on as students
of our respective subjects, we are terrified of committing mistakes and
confronting their results. Many of us, in fact, almost all of us have stooped
learning precisely for that reason to avoid mistakes and the resulting
failures. What was the last time we tried learning new word, or a new language
or tried new road for some destination we went many years ago.
By sheer fear of committing a mistake, we have made us absolutely
bordered and inorganic in every sense. We don’t try new food, new type of friends,
new type of reading, new type of movies, new type of music and anything that
triggers a slight probability of committing mistake. Initially, I use to, think
of it as an ego effect, but as I closely watched myself and my acquaintances, it
dawned on to me that it is not an ego but much primitive emotion of raw fear,
and fear is always in absence of rational thinking. Fear is because we fear, no
reason needed. And this doesn’t suggest being reckless, but more ready, more
inviting to experience of the unknown and the undefined.
How mistakes helped me I can’t narrate you because they don’t
help us the way we want and also they are not structured and timed according to our systematic thinking .In fact Mistakes don’t
help at all is what apparent to us if we see it through our own parameters of receiving
help or benefits. But if you could be just a bit more open and candid to yourself
and situations you went through the after effects of committing a mistake, you
will start connecting the stars and after a decent amount of time lapse you
will see how a particular mistake in fact made you future better or made is
more interesting or more magical then the regular systematic, zero error
decisions you did.
One word –brave, we need to learn to be brave, to make most
of our mistake ,make mistakes more friendly and love them to master them, the
magic of mistakes does seem very wishful, unplanned, or fate oriented but trust
me, you should trust yourself and distrust you fear. I am so sure because of
answer to a simple question I pose, Will you trust a decision made out of fear (of
making mistake) ?
Magic of mistake is in the way you see it and way you want
your life and business decisions to be.
To be hyper productive, will fear help?
That’s a question I leave for you to answer.
Being paranoid is glorified, and you look like an idiot when
you are paranoid, sometimes you can also try looking like an idiot by trying a
magic of mistakes.( Mis–Takes)
Mistakes do mean you go with a “take” that is against the
general social and business system, it does mean going with the wind, with the
flow, and with your gut, mistakes happen, they are not made. The upside is if
you can’t make mistakes happen you win and if you make the magic of mistake you
make yourself fearless and find yourself, learning.
